What I learnt at the gym and you can use in your next speech
In 2015,I learned a very valuable lesson that I want to share with you today.(and you may be able to use it in public speaking and in life)
15th of June 2015 was the date,
when I moved from Spain to Poland to start my career at Procter & Gamble.
But that’s not what I want to talk about today.
What I want to talk to you about today is what I learned during my gym journey.
I was obsessed with getting fit (very fit).
Counting calories,
running in the morning,
training 5 times a week in the afternoon…
Even though I was putting in a lot of effort,
I was getting a lot of back pain and little gains.
The reason?I was consistently training wrong,
particularly when performing a deadlift.
Wrong deadlift = Back pain.

One day,
I asked one of the instructors at the gym to check my body posture when performing a deadlift.
His feedback was direct:
“Man, this is terrible.”
I had been doing it wrong for sooo many weeks.
That explained my back pain.
And I didn’t want pain,
I wanted gains.
For a few weeks,
I asked the trainer to guide me,
and you know what?
Miracle.
No back pain,
progressing with the weight, and feeling better than ever.
The same applies to public speaking.
You can practice a lot,
but you will only know if you are moving in the right direction when you get feedback.
Today,
thanks to artificial intelligence, you can get feedback on your speech in one click
